Greatest Story

THE GREATEST (RAILROAD) STORY EVER TOLD. The building and operation of the 128 mile extension of the FEC from Homestead to Key West was, inarguably, the greatest railroad engineering and construction feat in U. S. (and, possibly, world) history to such an extent that the railroad used the image of a passenger train on the fabled Long Key Viaduct as its symbol until the destruction of the Extension by the September 2nd, 1935 Labor Day hurricane.
